We do not expect you to spend thousands of dollars without sampling the menu. We offer one complimentary tasting of your tentative menu for up to 4 guests, before you pay a deposit.
How do I confirm my date? expand_more
A nonrefundable deposit of 50% of the estimated event total along with a signed contract is due to confirm a date. We accept all major credit cards, checks, cash, Square, Cash App, and Venmo. A 3.8% processing fee will be added to all credit card transactions. A credit card on file is required for any overages — this card will not be charged without Sonjia B's Catering contacting you first.

Sonjia B's Catering will not be held responsible for Acts of Mother Nature (including hurricanes, floods, or storms), political acts (including war, terrorism, or civil disturbances), or venue changes (including sale of venue, power outages, or damage) that make catering unsafe or in violation of state, local laws, or DHEC requirements.

Event Day & Service

How long is food service? What if my event runs late? expand_more
Sonjia B's Catering contracts are for a 6-hour event service window. Typically, food service runs 1.5 to 2 hours. We arrive 2 hours before start time and remain for one hour after the event concludes.

An hourly rate of $200 per hour will be assessed for each hour past the scheduled end time. This fee applies to full hours and will not be reduced for partial hours. The charge will be applied to the credit card on file, and the client or their representative will be notified at the event.

Can we pack up leftover food? expand_more
Yes. Upon the conclusion of food service, all remaining food will be properly covered and left for the client to take home or otherwise use at their discretion. Sonjia B's Catering is not responsible for leftover food once it has been handed off to the client at the close of the event. The client assumes full responsibility for the safe storage, handling, and use of any food taken from the event.

Fee Explanations

Is there a cake-cutting fee? expand_more
For most wedding cakes, cake cutting is complimentary. Sonjia B's Catering does not accept delivery of cakes, will not move cakes, is not responsible for parts of cake construction due back to the owner, and does not provide to-go items for cakes.

⚠ If a venue requires the caterer to move a cake, the client must contract with the cake vendor to do so. Sonjia B's Catering will not move a multi-tiered cake.

What is the service charge? expand_more
This fee covers service on food and beverage only — it is not assessed against anything else. This is not a tip for staff. It goes toward labor costs.
What does the equipment rental charge include? expand_more
This includes all items needed to serve or consume food.

⚠ The equipment fee will not be discounted even if your venue, planner, or you provide items listed in the description. This is not an inclusive list.

Venue & Vendor Coordination

What if my venue provides rentals? expand_more
Sonjia B's Catering will not reduce the equipment fee even if a venue provides items, as Sonjia B's Catering is still supplying its own equipment. If your venue provides china, flatware, glassware, etc., it is the client's responsibility to ensure the venue contacts Sonjia B's Catering to determine exactly what is needed.
If my venue is providing beverages, will Sonjia B's Catering service them? expand_more
Sonjia B's Catering will not service, set up, or clear items not rented or provided by Sonjia B's Catering (except for removing dirty plates). If a venue is providing beverages and a client wants water goblets filled and placed on tables, the beverage provider must have adequate staff to service and clear those items.
If a venue requires trash removal, will Sonjia B's Catering remove other vendors' trash? expand_more
No. If a bartending company is contracted, for example, it is the client's responsibility to communicate the venue's trash policies to that vendor. Each provider is responsible for clearing their own items and managing their own trash.
